Surface Finishing Services

Surface finishing, also referred to as surface texture, plays a crucial role in enhancing and protecting the appearance of a product’s surface. The process can help to improve paint adhesion, eliminate surface defects, and increase chemical resistance, among other benefits. To achieve the desired surface properties, various processes are used, including adding or removing materials, as well as utilizing heat, electricity, or chemicals. Surface finishing is a necessary step in the manufacturing process to ensure that the final product meets the required specifications and quality standards.

M2 Prototype offers a comprehensive range of surface finishing services to enhance the performance of machined parts and 3D printed components. These services can improve the surface roughness, durability, corrosion resistance, and appearance of the parts. As a customized manufacturer, M2 provides a wide range of options for surface finishing, including deburring, smoothing, painting, brushing, polishing, silk-screening, sandblasting, anodizing, e-coating, powder coating, plating, and logo printing. These services can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of each part and ensure that the final product meets the desired quality and performance standards.

As machined finish refers to part that just deburs and remove sharp edges, and it has a surface roughness of 3.2μm.
Material: it is suitable for all materials.
Finish: stain.

Bead blasting is used mainly for improving appearance characteristics of ready parts.
Materials: applicable for all materials.
Finish: matte.
Standard: Sa1, Sa2, Sa2.5, Sa3.

Anodizing is used to protect the parts from corrosion, provides durability, and makes parts non-conductive. It’s also an ideal surface treatment for painting and priming.
Materials: aluminium and titanium.
Colors: black hard coat, black, blue, gold, grey hard coat, green, natural hard coat, natural, orange, red).
Finish: smooth, matte.

Polishing is used to remove marks left from cnc machining, and improve appearance of the parts. Ranging from Ra 0.8~Ra0.1, polishing processes use an abrasive material to rub the part’s surface to make them shine more less shiny as demanded.
Materials: all materials.
Finish: smooth, glossy finish.

Electroplating preserves the surface of 3d printing parts and resists rusts and other defects from causing decay by applying electric currents to reduce metal cations.
Materials: aluminum, steel, stainless steel.
Color: gold, silver, nickel, copper, brass.
Finish: smooth, glossy.

Brushing is a surface treatment process in which abrasive belts are used to draw traces on the surface of a material, usually for aesthetic purposes.
Materials: abs, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, steel.
Finish: stain.

Powder coating is used to increase smoothness of surfaces and make the customized manufacturing parts resistant to corrosion. Powder coating can be also used for colouring purposes.
Materials: applicable for all materials.
Colors: on demands.
Finish: gloss, semi-gloss, flat, metallic, textured.

Laser engraving is a specialized finishing process that uses a laser to burn an aesthetic or functional image onto the surface of a metal part. It is commonly used to add part numbers, or logos onto components.
Materials: all materials.
Colors: customized.
Finish: as it be.

Black oxide is used to add a degree of corrosion resistance to ferrous metals while also reducing light reflection. This process can also be used for aesthetic purposes, as it yields a smooth, black surface finish.
Materials: steel, stainless steel.
Colors: black.
Finish: smooth, matte.

PVD coating is a cost-effective way to used to enhanced durability, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, improved aesthetics of the custom manufactured prototypes.
Materials: metals, plastics, ceramics, glass.
Colors: on demands.
Finish: matte, mirror, satin, textured.

Precision grinding is used to achieve extremely tight tolerances and surface finishes that are too fine for other machining methods to achieve. It removes a extremely thin layer of material from the surface using a rotating abrasive wheel.
Materials: metals, plastics, ceramics, composites.
Colors: same as materials.
Finish: fine, coarse, mirror, satin.
